How to Enter the Tanka Prose Contest

A Fifteenth Anniversary Special Event: Call for Submissions

Submission Window: October 1 through October 31, 2015 (in-hand deadline).

Eligibility: Open to all, members and nonmembers alike, except TSA officers and the judge.

Regulations: One tanka prose piece per contest entrant. A title and one to three tanka should be included. The prose portion should not exceed 300 words. Your entry must be original, in English, unpublished, and not simultaneously submitted for publication or to any other contest. Work posted to Facebook, Twitter, blogs, websites, or public online discussion lists is not eligible for submission.

Entry Fee: None. This contest is free for both members and nonmembers.

Submissions: Email submissions only, please. Place your tanka prose in the body of your email message (no attachments, please), and write “Tanka Prose Entry - Your Name” in the subject line. Include your name, address, email address, and phone number above your entry. If you’re concerned about any special formatting characteristics in your tanka prose piece, you may add a brief note. Send to the contest coordinator, Janet Lynn Davis, at tsajld@att.net.

We will make every effort to acknowledge receipt of entries in a timely manner. If you haven’t received a response within a couple of weeks, please contact the contest coordinator.

Awards: A free 2016 TSA membership for the first-place winner.

Announcements: Winners will be personally contacted. Announcements will be made online, and winning tanka prose pieces will be published with the judge’s comments in Ribbons and on this website.

Adjudication: The name of the judge will be announced after the contest. [The judge was Bob Lucky. See Tanka Prose Contest Winners.]

Rights: All rights revert to the authors after publication in Ribbons and on this TSA website.
