All Tanka Sunday events will be held in the King Street 2 meeting room (except as noted at 1:30 pm) at the Desmond Hotel, our accommodations. The following schedule is subject to minor changes.


12:30 pm Check-in and walk-in registration opens

1:00 pm Welcome, introductions, and round-robin reading of tanka, led by Michael Dylan Welch, TSA founder, and Kathabela Wilson, TSA secretary, with greetings from Margaret Chula, TSA president (not able to be present), read by Janet Lynn Davis, TSA vice president

1:30 pm Beginning tanka-writing workshop led by Laura Maffei

Experienced tanka-writing workshop led by Aya Yuhki (meet in The Lodge)

2:15 pm Break (buy books, swap tanka handouts, write tan-renga)

2:30 pm Panel Discussion: “Why Do We Write Tanka?”
